Winter Dream
Posted on 26 November 2009
The naked branch bows and bends,
falls and rises in the winds;
its single leaf signals snow
for autumn’s time has come to go
His acorns gone and squirrels well fed
the grand old oak will stand as dead
through ice and snow and blinding rain;
he’s gone to sleep and feels no pain
but dreams of mellow April breeze
when warmth of sun acts as a tease
that bursts his buds of acorn flower,
reminds him of the spring time hour
when he must rise from winter’s bed,
wake the limbs which make his head,
put forth the leaves which feed his soul,
then stand so grand in summer’s glow!
